Spam is an ever evolving and multi-faceted problem. At the most basic level, we take a look at the content of the message and the reputation of the sender, in our suite of enterprise email services.

IP Reputation

  • Our approach is to mitigate known spam at the IP level
  • Utilize Cyren.com's IP reputation for:
    •  Spam classifications
    •  Signature-based virus and outbreak detection

Sender Policy Framework

Message Content

  • Anti-Virus
    • Two tier anti-virus
  • Cyren
  • SpamAssassin - Classification engine. This is the final step and used for scoring only after the message has passed all other technical checks, in our spam filtering process.

Spam Filtering Levels

Inside the interface, we offer different levels and options.

  • Disabled
    • SPF - Ignored
    • Whitelist / Black Enabled
    • Typically used for backup MX or mail servers that have very good spam filtering.
    • We do not advise using this level, ever. Let's figure out how we can use whitelists or blacklists to ensure your messages get delivered without you having to disable all spam protection.
  • Low
    • SPF - Enabled
    • Whitelist / Black Enabled
    • SpamAssasin Levels: +- 2.5
    • Extremely obvious spam discarded or quarantined, other messages tagged or forwarded
  • Medium
    • SPF - Enabled
    • Whitelist / Black Enabled
    • SpamAssasin Levels: +- 4.2
    • Very effective level that balances the spam rejected or quarantined, other messages tagged or forwarded.
    • Default Level when you sign up. For 99% of our customers this is their best option.
  • High
    • SPF - Enabled
    • Whitelist / Black Enabled
    • SpamAssasin Levels: +- 6.5
    • Aggressive filtering that may include some newsletters or messages to be rejected or quarantined, other messages tagged or forwarded
